Liverpool initiate contact with Barcelona Superstar ahead of a potential January move

Liverpool have initiated contact with Barcelona midfielder ahead of a potential move.

With Fabrizio Romano stating that Manchester United and Frenkie De Jong were in negotiations to bring the player to Old Trafford, it appeared as though De Jong would leave Barcelona during the summer transfer window.

Although the Dutchman has established himself as an important member of Barcelona’s midfield, he hasn’t started as many games this year as you might think.

According to ESPN, Liverpool have now made contact with the Barcelona midfielder in preparation for a prospective transfer, and the deal would likely solve many of Liverpool’s problems.

Jurgen Klopp will probably prioritize a midfielder in the upcoming two transfer windows due to their aging midfield.

One of the most important midfielders for Liverpool, Thiago is prone to injuries.

To sign De Jong, Liverpool would undoubtedly face tough competition, though.

According to the article, Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly also interested in signing the Barcelona star, so it might be challenging for Liverpool to persuade De Jong to transfer to Anfield.
