Liverpool FC Player Ratings; Arsenal 0-2 Liverpool
The reds struggled through the first half but they actually created nothing. They later on awoke from their slumber to win Arsenal at the Emirates stadium and also closing in on the premier league leaders within just a point.
The premier league race is on!
Goals: Jota 54′, Firmino 61′
Alisson Becker – 9 (Joint Man of the Match)
Really good play to be nice and on the front foot in the first half, which was just as well as he was called upon to clear several through balls behind the defence.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7
Involved in most play in both directions: Martinelli was the Gunners’ most regular outlet, so Trent had quite a tough time defending.

Joel Matip – 9 (joint Man of the Match)
Two big clearances and blocks soon after 2-0 to further halt any attempts at a comeback.
Virgil van Dijk – 7
Did very well covering runs in behind from Saka when Arsenal went direct and made a whole bunch of passes across his own back line without Liverpool actually leading any attack.
Andy Robertson – 8
Defended his flank brilliantly and got forward to vital effect in the second half, setting up our second goal and linking old school style with Mane down that wing.
Fabinho – 8
All that work paid off as he had a nicer time of things after the break and the Reds still had the draw to build from rather than chasing the game.
Jordan Henderson – 5
The captain has been in better form of late but went totally missing in the first half. Really needed to do a lot more to help Trent in particular with Martinelli.
Thiago Alcantara – 6
It Just didn’t happen for him often enough this time, but like Jota he had one vital moment which went perfectly – he claimed a perfect assist for the opener.
Sadio Mane – 5
Switched left and fared not much better, though did have a chance right either side of the break. A great first touch before half-time, but he was under pressure to sky the effort – then was offside when scoring after the restart.
Diogo jota –

He was terrible for 53 minutes.
Then he scored! He was subbed off anyway after a fantastic near-post hit.
Luis Diaz – 7
Playing with only one forward in the first half definitely hampered Liverpool but at least Diaz turned up to the party.
Mohamed Salah (on for Diaz, 55′) – 7
Lots of good one-on-one play, no real sights of goal.
Roberto Firmino (on for Jota, 55′) – 8
Came on, won the ball, scored. What a man.
Curtis Jones (on for Thiago, 89′) – n/a – Just stoppage time.
