‘Like a ghost’ -Carragher claims £40m Liverpool star was completely invisible last night

The Reds have now lost two straight Premier League games against teams fighting for safety after Jurgen Klopp’s team was humiliated 2-1 by Leeds United at Anfield yesterday night.

Many of Liverpool’s players, most notably Fabinho, who is now playing for the club in ninth place in the Premier League, are just not performing at their best.

At the 60-minute mark, Klopp hooked the large Brazil international after yet another unimpressive performance.

Several Leeds players, especially in the first half, were guilty of gliding past Fabinho, a £40 million acquisition in 2018 [Guardian].

He said on Sky Sports [29/10, 8:31pm]: “Fantastic from Leeds, going right through Liverpool’s midfield like they weren’t there. Fabinho was like a ghost, he went past him that easily.”

Only this week, Paul Merson brought attention to Fabinho’s previous challenges.

The large man is clearly having difficulties, and unless he resolves his issues, he will likely continue to do so.

One could argue that the fact that Fabinho plays with different midfielders virtually every week isn’t helping, but great players always adjust to their environment, so you’d expect the South American to do the same, no matter how challenging it is.
