Jurgen Klopp is ‘lying’ about Real Madrid vs Man City says, Jamie Carragher

Liverpool Legend Jamie Carragher has said Red’s boss Jürgen Klopp was “lying” when he said he did not mind the team his side faced in the Champions League final.

Liverpool booked their place in the final of the showpiece on Tuesday night as they secured a 5-2 aggregate victory over Villarreal in Spain.

The Reds relinquished their two-goal first-leg advantage in a disjointed first-half display in Castellon, as goals from Boulaye Dia and Francis Coquelin offered the host some hopes.

However, the half-time  introduction of Luis Diaz turned the tide for Liverpool, as the Colombian headed them level on the night, following Fabinho’s close-range finish.

Sadio Mane pounced on Geronimo Rulli’s error to slot home the third goal to keep their dream of a quadruple alive.

Liverpool will face either Manchester City or Real Madrid in the Paris final later this month. The winner of the second semi-final will be decided on Wednesday night when the Citizens take a 4-3 aggregate lead to the Bernabeu Stadium. But Klopp insisted he had no preference about which side advance to the finals.

Speaking after the match Klopp said “Yes I will be watching but I don’t mind who we get, “Whoever it is it is going to be massive.”

Carragher, however, thinks the German wasn’t being honest. “I think he’s lying,” Carragher said when asked if he thought Klopp knew who he wanted to face. “I am pretty certain he’d prefer Real Madrid.”

Liverpool faced Real Madrid in the 2018 Champions League final but endured a night to forget as they suffered an embarrassing 3-1 defeat.

Reds keeper Loris Karius made two terrible mistakes that led to goals, while Mohamed Salah suffered a shoulder injury midway through the first half after a scuffle with Sergio Ramos.
