“in the final days of January” – Fabrizio Romano hints at late Liverpool move
Liverpool are exploring options to sign a new centre-midfielder this month, according to Fabrizio Romano.
In the remaining days of the January transfer window, the Reds are reportedly interested in strengthening their ailing midfield.
The key summer target, Jude Bellingham, may not be pursued until the summer, according to Romano.
Bellingham has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool among other European powerhouses, but the adolescent reportedly has a verbal offer from Real Madrid, according to Spanish source Marca (via The Express).
It was clear that the Reds wouldn’t be the only team pursuing him, which might have forced them to choose another target early in January.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed Liverpool’s priority in their pursuit of Bellingham was to sign a midfielder before the deadline.
He said: “Liverpool are exploring possibilities for a new midfielder to sign in these days, so let’s see if they will find the right one or they will only focus on the summer’s main target, Jude Bellingham, in the race with Man City, Chelsea and Real Madrid.
“But for sure, Liverpool are looking at the market for a potential new centre-midfielder in the final days of January.”
