“He doesn’t defend always good” – Watch Jurgen Klopp speak on Alexander-Arnold’s defending
After a difficult week with England, Jurgen Klopp was prepared to defend Trent Alexander-Arnold in front of the media and was open about his right-back skills.
Prior to the Brighton game, the 55-year-old said in a press interview:

Liverpool were held 1-1 at home by Tottenham
“All the time people talk about him and say he’s not a good defender. That’s not true, he is a good defender. He doesn’t defend always good – that’s true as well.
“That’s what we are working on, he is a young player. He’s 23 and there is space for improvement, definitely.
“But I think really we only discuss it on the level we discuss it because his offensive impact is so extreme for us”.
The German gave an accurate evaluation, and it’s obvious from watching the news conference in its entirety that he had a lot more to say about Gareth Southgate’s dubious managerial strategies.
Despite the minor criticism, it must be a relief for our No. 66 to know that his club boss would always have his back.
