Harvey Elliot in danger of being sanctioned by FA after what happened in the finals of the Carabao Cup
Liverpool Fc defeated Chelsea on penalties in the final of the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, and Reds player Harvey Elliot was spotted celebrating with a flare.
The FA are set to speak to Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott, who could be sanctioned following the Reds League Cup victory over Chelsea.
Chelsea were beaten 11-10 on penalties after a 0-0 draw which saw four goals ruled out for offside.
Blues goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga missed the deciding spot-kick, handing the Reds the trophy.
Elliott came on as a second-half substitute to replace Naby Keita as he was initially not named in Liverpool’s matchday squad.
However, an injury to Thiago in the warm-up meant the teenager had to be named as a substitute and came off the bench in the final 10 minutes of the game.
While Liverpool were celebrating, Elliott was seen and pictured on the Wembley Stadium pitch holding a red flare.
The moment showed the youngster’s passion towards the fans, after a difficult five months in which he has recovered from a long-term ankle injury to return to the first-team fold.
The English FA have since been notified of the situation and will be seeking comment from the 18-year-old.
There has been no comment from manager Jurgen Klopp but the German could speak when he faces the media on Tuesday ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup tie 24 hours later.
