Liverpool forward Sadio Mane struck twice as the Reds battered a much-changed Manchester City side to open up a 3-0 halftime lead in the FA Cup semifinal at Wembley, before Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva left Jurgen Klopp’s men hanging on for a 3-2 triumph.

Ibrahima Konate headed his third goal in three games to give Liverpool an early lead and Mane capitalised upon a dreadful error from City goalkeeper Zack Steffen to double the lead in the 17th minute.

Steffen was then beaten by a sumptuous Mane volley at his near post on the stroke of halftime, at which point total humiliation appeared on the cards for Pep Guardiola, who made seven changes to the starting XI that battled past Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.

But Jack Grealish’s fifth goal of the season early in the second half reduced the deficit, although City still badly lacked their usual fluency, Silva added time goal was not enough to rescue Guardiola’s side as they were knocked out of the FA Cup.
