Four things we observed in Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid 2-0 win in the Champions League.
Liverpool defeated Atletico Madrid 2-0 on Wednesday night in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League at Anfield.
The Victory means the Red have qualified for the next round, with four wins in four matches.
We take a look at four things we observed on the night.
1. The Return of Fabinho
Fabinho returned to the starting eleven of Liverpool after recovery from injury and his presence was vital in the middle of the park.
The Brazilian brought a balance that had been missing in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
With Thiago also coming from the bench, Liverpool’s midfield injury crisis is easing. At the very least, they allow for more varied options than we’ve seen in recent.
They just need to be fit during the busy festive schedule as they are expected to play key roles.
2. Jurgen Klopp expertise
The Reds went into the game with a plan.
Attacking Atletico’s left wing with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, and Mohamed Salah.
Salah played a supporting role here. He struck very, very wide on her flank, creating room for the other two.
with Alexander-Arnold taking full advantage, as he gave two assists in the first half, as the Reds raced to a 2-0 lead.
3. Anti-Brighton
Unlike the Premier League game against Brighton, Liverpool did very well as they held on to the 2-0 lead, against a ten-man Atletico side. They took absolute control of the game even after the goals, not allowing Diego Simeone’s men any space. That is unlike Liverpool this season. With this performance, we can say they have learnt their lesson.
4. Perfect Liverpool
The Reds have registered four wins out of four, the first time in their history of the champions league. In a group that was considered as the group of death that includes, Atletico Madrid, FC Porto, and AC Milan. Jurgen Klopp’s come out head and shoulders above everyone else.
with two games left and having qualified the German coach can afford to give some players who are yet to feature in the champions league an opportunity.
