Done Deal: Liverpool now have advantage in four-horse race to sign Chelsea star
Liverpool feel they’re in a strong position to sign Mason Mount this summer.
According to a recent article from 90mins, should the England international fail to extend his contract with Chelsea, the Reds believe they are in the best position to sign him.
Mount, 24, has just over a year left on his contract. Although the Blues are reportedly working hard to extend the midfielder’s terms, no deal has been reached thus far. Should the two parties continue to be at odds, the Londoners will be forced to concede defeat and look to sell a player who has high value because he is a native of the city.
Mount is reportedly wanted by both Manchester clubs, as well as Newcastle United, and is understandably highly regarded by many top clubs, including Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
With a four-horse race forming, only time will tell where Chelsea’s gifted number 19 finishes.
Mount, who also has 36 senior international caps under his belt, was promoted to the Blues’ senior first team back in 2019. Since then, he has played in 192 matches across all competitions directly contributing to 70 goals along the way.
