Morocco upset 2018 World Cup semifinals Belgium with the best result in their tournament history thanks to two goals in the second half.

Substitutes Abdelhamid Sabiri and Zakaria Aboukhlal scored in the closing minutes, and Morocco thoroughly deserved their victory after putting up a gallant fight against a weak Belgian team who once more fell short of living up to their ‘Golden Generation’ reputation.

At the end of the first half, Hakim Ziyech had a goal disallowed for offside by VAR after a free kick from a tight angle evaded Thibault Courtois.

The goalkeeper for Belgium was again at fault for the opening goal; he was distracted by Romain Saiss at his near post but still allowed the ball to slip past him.

Even though there were many talented attackers on the field in the closing minutes, Belgium did little to trouble Morocco until Ziyech made a break for it on the right and fed Aboukhlal for the game-winning goal in stoppage time.
