“A player needs to see affection” – Watch Ex Liverpool Superstar Luis Suarez sends transfer message to his former club as he considers an emotional return
After leaving Atletico Madrid, where he spent the previous two seasons, the former Liverpool striker is now a free agent. A reunion with an old team is a possibility.
Luis Suarez, a former striker for Liverpool, is debating making an emotional trip back to Nacional in Uruguay, where he previously played.

The veteran Uruguayan striker, who has been linked to numerous clubs during this summer’s transfer window as a free agent, is still remembered in English football for his three-and-a-half-year stay at the Reds between 2011 and 2014, during which he scored 82 goals in 133 games before moving on to Barcelona.
After two seasons, Suarez left Atletico Madrid at the end of the season. In his first season at the club, his goals helped Diego Simeone’s team win the league title.
He scored 21 goals to give Atleti their first league title in seven years. However, he struggled to maintain that form in his second season.
The Uruguayan club Nacional, where the striker spent four years in their youth program after joining at the age of 14, is where the forward started his professional career.
Before being signed by Dutch club Groningen in 2006, he scored 12 goals in 35 games for the first squad.
Although Suarez still hopes to sign for a European team, Nacional is aware that any deal to get the striker back to the club is exceedingly difficult, the deal gets somewhat more likely with each day that passes.
As reported by Marca, club president Jose Fuentes traveled directly to Spain this week to speak with Suarez and discuss the striker’s future, giving their chances of signing him a new boost.
Suarez scored just 12 goals in 41 La Liga and Champions League games last season, and he was no longer a sure starter for the team with just 20 starts in the 37 La Liga games played by the team this year.
Prior to the World Cup starting in Qatar this winter, he is now desperate to find a team ready to play him frequently.
When addressing an approach from Argentine club River Plate earlier this summer, Suarez revealed that a move to South America was a possibility and even dropped a cunning hint advising Nacional what they should do:
“I was very excited about the possibility of going to River Plate to fight to win the Copa Libertadores.
“It was a dream that I had to win a cup in South America. However, as soon as River were eliminated that possibility is over.
“A month and a half ago I declared that I was not going to leave Europe, but River insisted and insisted so much that I came to consider that possibility.
“As much as one says something, when the time comes you will consider it. You are excited that they love you so much.
“A player needs to see affection. River was giving it to me and Nacional (Suarez’s former Uruguayan club) could have tried that.”
