Liverpool set to sign in-demand South American star midfielder for £85m as perfect Fabinho’s replacement
According to The Mirror, Chelsea and Liverpool will have to shell out £85 million to get Moises Caicedo away from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Ecuador international made his Premier League debut for Brighton toward the close of the previous season and has since cemented himself as an indisputable starter.
The 20-year-old has performed quite well in defensive midfield thanks to his powerful tackling, interceptions, and quality distribution.
Caicedo is currently attracting a lot of attention from English Premier League clubs, according to The Mirror. Many teams are interested in signing him, including Chelsea and Liverpool. Nevertheless, a significant amount would be essential to attract him because Brighton values him at a whopping £85 million.
This season, Chelsea’s midfield has been a source of concern. There has been a continual turnover of players since N’Golo Kante’s long-term injury has kept him out for the foreseeable future, but none have offered the same defensive determination. Caicedo would provide Chelsea with a potential Kante successor.

The end of the current season will mark the end of Kante’s contract with the organization. Chelsea might be better off releasing him because of his regular injuries. Caicedo makes sense as a replacement. Having played for former Brighton manager Graham Potter, he ought to adapt fast.
On the other hand, given the troubles Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have had this year, Liverpool needs to improve their options in the holding midfield position. With his best years still ahead of him, Caicedo would be a great deal at age 20, but the main concern is if they can pay him.
The Reds would have to pay a club record fee. Given their respective spending margins in recent transfer windows, one would expect Chelsea to have the upper hand. no surprises if they tried to sign him as early as January.
