Watch; Jurgen klopp explains why Liverpool rejected ‘easy’ Youri Tielemans, Kalvin Phillips and Yves Bissouma summer transfers
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has decided not to recruit a new midfielder despite being connected to some big names and a report claims Liverpool turned down the chance to sign a Premier League trio.

Liverpool’s summer transfer activity is nearly complete as they sealed the £6.5 million acquisition of highly-rated Aberdeen full-back Calvin Ramsay.
Following the signings of Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho on a free transfer and Benfica’s Darwin Nunez for a claimed club record amount, the 18-year-old became the Reds’ third addition on Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp’s goal was to reduce the average age of the squad, which he has accomplished with the three, who are all 22 years old or younger.
However, fans are disappointed that Liverpool did not recruit a new midfielder during the transfer season, with many believing that the position ‘lacks quality’ and ‘fresh legs.’
Klopp admires Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Real Madrid’s Aurien Tchouameni, but the Reds manager has decided to strengthen his midfield until at least next summer.
This summer, Liverpool were also ‘prepared to pass up’ negotiations for Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans, Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips, and former Brighton player Yves Bissouma.
The Reds could have signed those players, according to National News Sport, but the club turned down three bids for the trio, all of which they considered “simple” to accomplish.
The Reds are said to have turned down those offers because they do not want to add new players who will start at the higher end of the wage scale.
Thiago Alcantara, who is in the middle of his first deal at Anfield, is among the club’s top earners at the moment.
If these game-changing acquisitions cannot be acquired, no stopgaps will be brought in, which is another element in Liverpool’s decision not to sign Tielemans, Phillips, or Bissouma.
For 2022/23, the Reds will continue to rely on players like Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
With his contract expiring this time next year, Tielemans has been linked with a move away from Leicester City this summer. Arsenal are said to be still keen in signing the Belgium international, despite Liverpool being frontrunners to sign him at one stage.
Meanwhile, after helping England reach the Euro 2020 final and keeping Leeds United in the Premier League, Phillips is a target for Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
Bissouma, on the other hand, has just completed a £25 million transfer from Brighton to Tottenham Hotspur, despite interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.
