“He is the best in the world right now” – James Milner applauds special Liverpool superstar
“He is the best in the world right now” – James Milner applauds special Liverpool superstar.
Liverpool FC midfielder James Milner strongly believes his teammate Mohamed Salah is the best player in the world right now.
The Egypt international Mohamed Salah has been making waves at the AFCON, netting twice to help his team secure a spot in the semi-finals of the competition.
James Milner on Mo Salah:”He’s special. Some of the goals he’s scoring at times, you just have to stop and applaud them really.
“For me, he is right up there, the goals he’s scoring, the numbers he’s putting up consistently, goals and assists.”
He has been in scintillating form in the Premier League as well, scoring 23 times across competitions.
Milner believes Salah’s consistent displays make him the best in the world. He told Premier League Productions:
“For me, the last few months, if he’s not, there is someone playing very, very well in front of him. For me, he is right up there, the goals he’s scoring, the numbers he’s putting up consistently, goals and assists.”
“Obviously I might be slightly biased and I’m blessed as well because I get to train with him every day and see how good he is in training as well, but I think he has to be the best over the recent months and hopefully long may it continue.
“He’s special. Some of the goals he’s scoring at times, you just have to stop and applaud them really.”
Salah has netted seven times in this season UEFA Champions League failing to score in just one of Liverpool’s group stage games.
His prolific form in front of goal will be needed when Jurgen Klopp’s side faces Inter Milan in the round of 16 ties, but Milner has warned that the Serie A giants have a ‘goal machine’ of their own.
“It’s a big tie. You can reflect on the draw and obviously we know how tough of a draw it is,” he added
“They’re a very good team, I think they’re top of the league at the moment, they’ve got some good players and a couple of guys I used to play with as well.
“Edin [Dzeko] is still banging them up top as well – he’s a goal machine and he will score goals wherever he plays.”
