Cristiano Ronaldo leads Manchester United players to extend show of love to children’s hospital at Christmas
Manchester United continued its old long ritual of sending messages and gifts to both patients and staff across three different hospitals in Greater Manchester.
United players were unable to visit hospitals in person, due to problems created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, United had the gifts delivered while the players recorded special video messages of support to patients and staff at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, The Christie and Francis House Children’s Hospice.
Varieties of presents including, shirts, hats, and annuals were sent to lift spirits around the hospitals for the festive period by both men and women’s teams of the club.
United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo expressed disappointment at not being able to do the annual ritual again in person.
He said “It is unfortunate that we could not visit the hospitals this year, as it is something I really liked to do when I was last here at Old Trafford,”as per Man United
It’s so important that we give our support to the young people at this special time of year and it’s an honour for me to be part of this again.”
Scotland international Scott Mc Tominay also added how important it is to continue this tradition around this time of year.
“Christmas time is such a special time of year; it’s important for the families and the kids to feel loved and feel that warmth around Christmas.
“The best part of being a footballer is seeing the smiles on fans’ faces.”
Manchester United Foundation organizes the players’ visit every Christmas, giving out over 2,000 club items to staff and patients this time around.
