Watch Mohamed Salah’s drops potential transfer update amid Liverpool exit rumours
As Mohamed Salah’s contract with Liverpool draws to a close, speculation has already started about where he might play football next, but one place in particular may already be ruled out.
Salah’s current Reds contract has just 12 months remaining to run, and the two parties have been at odds in talks about a new one for quite some time.
The ball is squarely in the club’s court, according to the former Chelsea and Roma forward, who underlined that he has always made it plain that he wants to stay away.
Salah’s adamant desire to remain is one aspect of the narrative, but his compensation demands are much greater than what the Reds typically pay any of their players.
For years, Liverpool has had a pay structure in place to make sure the team can live within its means.
It is becoming more and more obvious that, despite Salah’s legacy at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s team will not deviate from that framework to try and fulfill his £400,000-per-week wage demand.
If any clubs were interested in luring their talisman away this summer, the Reds have set their asking price.
Salah has no real desire to leave Liverpool, and any interested club could hold out for a season and sign him for free.
As a result, it is highly likely that Salah will spend the upcoming season at Anfield before reevaluating his options.
Real Madrid is said to be one of the teams who might approach Salah to take him on a free transfer when the time comes and his contract expires.
The Reds’ number 11 may never don the recognizable white and gold of Los Blancos, however there are some obvious barriers in his way.
Salah has unsurprisingly turned Real Madrid into a foe given his earlier remarks about wanting to play in Spain in the future.
Salah has competed against the Spanish powerhouses in two Champions League finals and another knockout stage two-legged matchup since joining Liverpool, but he has not been successful in defeating them.
Salah had to leave the first final game early due to an injury sustained following a dirty foul by Sergio Ramos that hurt the Egyptian’s shoulder.
Salah has publicly stated that he does not still consider the hurt of that loss or that altercation with Ramos.
Before the two sides squared off in the competition’s 2020–21 season.
The former Roma forward spoke with Marca and said the following: “That game is in the past, so I don’t think about [what happened with Ramos].
“I’m thinking about the team. Everyone is focused on their team and everyone wants to win… that’s it. Let’s just say that I have special motivation to win the tie and go through to the semi-finals.”
Salah made his thoughts very plain last season after Liverpool defeated Villarreal in the Champions League semi-finals and was waiting to learn who they would play in the Real Madrid vs. Manchester City final.
“I want to play Madrid, I have to be honest. City are a really tough team, we played against them a few times this season, but I think if you ask me personally, I would prefer Madrid,” he admitted.
“Because we lost in the final against them, I want to play against them, and hopefully win against them.”
