(VIDEO) “I am not surprised” Cody Gakpo speaks on joining Liverpool amid interest from the Reds
Most of the players competing in this year’s World Cup appear to be linked to Liverpool, but one of the most highly rated players, Cody Gakpo, has addressed these rumours in a press conference.
As reported by Sky Sports News, the Dutchman said: “I focus on the World Cup but it’s always nice to hear such rumours. But, you know, I just try to focus here and do my best. I’m not surprised.
“I know what I’m capable of, but it’s always a challenge to reach your highest level possible. I think I’m not there yet but I can improve in a lot of things.”
The 23-year-old forward, who has two goals to his name in Qatar, has drawn interest from numerous suitors, many of whom are in the Premier League.
It appears unlikely that the Reds will make a move for the attacker given the summer’s acquisition of Darwin Nunez.
The PSV forward’s expected high price, and the need for fresh midfielders in our squad, but it does seem that some of these links for him may be accurate.
