“It will take a while”-Jurgen Klopp reveals £45m Liverpool star isn’t going to play for a very long time
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp said that star winger, Diogo Jota might be sidelined for a while due to injury.
Klopp talked about Liverpool’s injury problems with the media via the Liverpool FC channel on YouTube.
“Ali (Alisson) trained today more than the day before. He will definitely be available for Fulham but not at the weekend,” said the boss.
“The same for Diogo. He was not here with us so how could he play a football game, that will take a while, unfortunately.”
Good news and bad news, then. Hopefully, Jota responds well to treatment and can be back sooner than expected
It’s terrible that Jota got hurt at such a critical moment in the preseason.
The 25-year-old had put in a lot of effort throughout the summer to get fit before suffering a recurrence of the hamstring injury he sustained while playing for Portugal.
He will now have to observe from the sidelines as Liverpool attempts to make a successful start to the season.
There doesn’t appear to be any risk of a particularly long-term injury based on Klopp’s earlier remarks. Jota ought to be able to return ahead of time for the World Cup in November.
But it does imply that he might be worrying about keeping his spot in Portugal’s team. Since Jota’s country has many attacking alternatives, he can’t afford to stay away from the team right before the tournament begins.
The £45 million signing lost his starting spot toward the close of the previous campaign, but he was still essential to their quest for the quadruple.
Liverpool might use Jota’s eye for goal since they can no longer rely on Sadio Mane’s goals.
Darwin Nunez may be able to cover the void, but the squad losing 44 goals from last season does put a little extra pressure on the team.
Without Jota, Nunez, Mohamed Salah, and Luis Diaz will be heavily relied upon to score goals. Even if they are more than capable of doing so, Diogo will be missed.
