Arsenal star Martin Odegard has fired a warning message to the Reds ahead of the midweek Premier League clash between the two sides.

Martin Odegaard has warned Liverpool that Arsenal is more confident ahead of the all-important Premier League clash on Wednesday.

The Norway international was instrumental in the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday and is confident his teammates can put up a better fight this time against Jurgen Klopp’s men after losing 4-0 at Anfield earlier in the season.

“We have a very strong belief in the group and play with a lot of confidence,” Odegaard told Sky Sports. “We just have to keep going.

“We have a lot of confidence in the team now and everyone believes in what we are doing. We are strong as a team and that is the most important thing.”

The match is being billed as a litmus game for Mikel Arteta’s side, as Sky pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink declared. : “That match on Wednesday, will show how far they have come against the big sides.

“At the beginning of the season, there was a big gap. Now, we get to see how far they have come and that is their next thing, can they do it against the big teams as well.”

Odegaard’s creativity was key to Arsenal’s win, earning him an abundance of praise in a post-match.

“Having that pressure as a 16-year-old, it was seen as a big thing moving to Real Madrid, and young players going to Real Madrid playing in the first-team, they do not get the room to make those mistakes,” Hasselbaink explained.

“You do not get that at Real Madrid. He came to Arsenal last year, but he was put in the team and still was given the chance because they believe in him.

“And at the beginning of the season, he was not the player that he is now, but again, he was allowed to make mistakes and as a young player, those mistakes help you grow.”

Odegaard could see himself and Arsenal return to the Champions League ahead of next season, but big games like the one against Liverpool will go a long way in determining whether they will achieve that goal or not at the end of the season.
