Liverpool receives Premier League title boost after West Ham United Europa League defeat
Liverpool have been handed a Premier League title boost after West Ham United were knocked out of the Europa League at the semi-final stage.
The Hammers trailed 2-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt after losing at the London at home in the first leg, losing 1-0 to the Bundesliga outfit in Germany to miss a final appearance and end their European challenge for the season.
If West Ham United had won the Europa League, they would have gained automatic qualification for next season’s Champions League.
But, their best chance of qualifying for Europe remains through league position with them needing to finish the season strongly as a result or risk failing to qualify altogether.
West Ham are currently seventh in the table, three points ahead of Wolves who have played one more game, and with such a position they deserve a place in the Europa Conference League next season.
However, they can boast a game in hand against sixth-placed Manchester United, so they still have a chance to overtake the Red Devils and qualify for next season’s Europa League with three games left to play.

One of West Ham’s final three matches is at home to Premier League leaders Man City on May 15, with the Hammers arguably the toughest test left for Pep Guardiola’s men as they look to win the title.
David Moyes’s side exit has, on paper, made City’s task of picking up maximum points at the London Stadium a harder proposition.
With City currently leading Liverpool by just one point in the Premier League title race with four games left to play, with the Reds needing City to drop points to have any chance of winning the title.
in the first half of the season, West Ham managed to take home wins from Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea, while also beating Man City on League Cup penalties after a 0-0 draw at London Stadium.
