Liverpool & Aurélien Tchouaméni have reached an agreement on transfer terms, but the Reds face a battle to complete the transfer

The young Monaco midfielder is set to leave the Principality this summer, with Liverpool and Real Madrid vying for his signature. Despite agreeing terms with the Reds, Kop bosses believe he will join Real Madrid.

After talks with Liverpool, France’s Aurélien Tchouaméni has agreed to terms with the English club.

However, the highly-rated midfielder has stated that he will take many days to make his decision after ALSO agreed to the same agreement in principle with Real Madrid.

And as a result, the Liverpool club is fearful for their pursuit of the Monaco midfielder, with club insiders claiming he has little chance of coming to England.

After a hard chase of Tchouaméni, who has eight caps for France and is considered a rising star in his country, Liverpool appeared to be in the driving seat.

However, when Real Madrid’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe fell through – with the PSG striker opting to stay in Paris after being offered a lucrative new deal for about £1 million per week and a £100 million signing on fee – they have emerged as frontrunners for the 22-year-old.

When they were committed to such a large price to bring Mbappe to the Bernabeu, Madrid were unable to satisfy his demands, but now that the deal has fallen through, they have the finances to significantly increase their offer.

Tchouaméni is said to be ‘nearly certain’ to join the Spanish champions after rejecting a rival offer from PSG.

Liverpool and its manager Jurgen Klopp have pleased the midfielder, and he wants to be a part of the team that has won four titles this season.

According to sources in France, he has agreed agreements with both teams and has stated that he would decide between the two by the end of the week.

The winning team is expected to spend roughly £67 million for the midfielder, who was crowned the Ligue 1 young player of the year last season and was named to the all-star league XI this season.

However, Liverpool have backed away from any deal, believing he would join Real Madrid.
