Jurgen Klopp shares his first thoughts on Liverpool new signing Luis Diaz and reveals one thing he loves

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp has revealed his first thoughts on Red’s January transfer signing Luis Diaz and pointing out what the Columbia loves about training.

Diaz joined the Reds from FC Porto in the January transfer window for £37.5million made his debut for the club during the 3-1 win over Cardiff in the FA Cup.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of Thursday’s game against Leicester City, Klopp expressed how pleased he was with the 25-year-old performance in his first game in the FA Cup.

“He (Luis) is okay. We didn’t spend the full time together, it was for training sessions. We had a long talk with Pep Lijnders who speaks Portuguese and Spanish as well so we could have a proper talk.

“He is a really nice guy. I like a lot his contribution when he came on in the Cardiff game and from there we go.

The German was somewhat taken aback by Diaz’s love of Rondos in training, saying he has never seen anyone smile so much during them.

“Yesterday, a normal session which he enjoyed a lot. I’m not sure if you saw pictures of our training session, we started with a longer rondo and I’m not sure I saw a player ever smile that constantly through a rondo. He enjoyed it and the rest of the session as well.

“We could see very naturally he fitted into the game, the last game. Positioning-wise, he played exactly how we wanted him to but that is only the starting point. A lot more to come.”

Diaz will face tough competition for a Place in the starting lineup against Diogo Jota, Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah who has just returned to Liverpool following a disappointing AFCON at the hands of Senegal led by fellow Red teammate Mane.
