Jurgen Klopp sends “incredible” Antonio Conte and Tottenham message
The Liverpool manager was happy for the turnaround in north London that has been overseen by Antonio Conte since he took charge in November, labelling Spurs as a “quality side” in the race for the top four
Tottenham Hotspur have undergone an astonishing change in form over the last two months in which they have gone from top four outsiders to favourites to achieve UEFA Champions League football next season.
Tottenham was defeated by Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday but they Spurs still occupy a three point gap over fifth-placed Manchester United and there is no ignoring the fact that Antonio Conte is beginning to steer the club in the right direction.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League fixture with Man United on Tuesday, as reported by the Evening Standard, Klopp said: “If you are [fifth] in the Premier League it means you are a quality side.
“Because with all the opponents you have, it’s madness how consistent you have to be to get somehow close to that area.
“You see Tottenham flying in the moment and then get a little drop [at the weekend], but the quality they have is incredible.”
Tottenham will be facing Liverpool before the season is out, with the two clubs facing off at Anfield on May 7 as they both chase individual goals of winning the title and achieving a top four finish respectively, having already played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in north London back in December.
