Jurgen Klopp receives a message from Roberto Firmino on his future at Liverpool

Despite reports linking him with a move away from Anfield, Robert Firmino has stated that he wants to stay at Liverpool.

Firmino, 30, has one year left on his contract and has been a bit player this season, making only 20 Premier League games.

The Brazilian’s lack of game time was apparently frustrating him as he sought a fresh start to relaunch his career, and Liverpool were rumored to be considering selling him.

However, in an interview with TNT Sport, the Brazilian downplayed reports of his departure, calling Liverpool as a “wonderful club.”

He said: ‘I’m very happy here. I’m grateful to God that I’m here playing for a great club with great players, winning titles. And my will is to stay.

‘My wish is to stay here. I want to be here. I’m happy here. So that’s all I can say, I want to stay.’

Under Jurgen Klopp, Firmino has become one of Liverpool’s most important players, making part of a famous front three with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

He has 98 goals in 326 games for the Reds, and he has helped the Merseyside club win four major championships.

Firmino has slipped down the pecking order since the additions of Diogo Jota and Luiz Diaz in the last two years.
