“I’m a red” – Watch Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain takes final decision on Liverpool future.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has one year left on his contract, and with so much speculation surrounding his future, there have been conflicting claims regarding what he expects to do in 2022–2023.

The 28-year-old struggled to get regular playing time under Jurgen Klopp last season, accruing just 1,511 minutes.

Oxlade-Chamberlain did not play for Liverpool after the trip to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup back in March, despite having returned to full fitness.

It gave off the impression that moving this summer would be the preferred option to waiting another year to complete his current contract.

West Ham has reportedly expressed interest in his talents, and Liverpool is claimed to have approved a transfer this summer with a price tag of £10 million.

Alex Oxlade chamberlain however “remains part of Liverpool’s plans,” and that there are “currently no intentions to sell” in the current transfer window.

James Pearce of the Athletic has now said that “Liverpool won’t stand in his way if the perfect opportunity comes along,” confirming the £10m valuation, as if that whiplash wasn’t enough.

The 28-year-old played 29 times for Liverpool last season and will be aware that he may get more playing time elsewhere in the Premier League, but leaving the club is a difficult choice in and of itself.

Although there is no assurance, the Premier League’s reinstatement of the five substitutions rule might help him get more playing time at Anfield.

The proper team and agreement must first be presented for Oxlade, thus there doesn’t seem to be any urgency to make any immediate decisions.
