This summer, Mason Mount reportedly received “discreet” proposals from both Liverpool and Manchester City.

According to Sky Sports’ summary of the current transfer window, which quotes the Daily Express, this is the case.

The Chelsea midfielder has a deal that runs through 2024. Two years remaining on a contract may easily become one year, which can swiftly turn into a crisis, as Liverpool is all too aware of.

Mount is presently valued at £67.5m on Transfermarkt, however Chelsea would probably expect more to agree to a deal to a direct rival.

However, unless the contract situation is sorted, that market worth will continue to decline, so it is understandable why Liverpool could be keeping an eye on things.

Mount was one of just three players in the Premier League last season to reach double digits in both goals and assists, along with Salah and Jarrod Bowen (both of whom have been linked with Liverpool).

He would fit perfectly into Klopp’s midfield because he is an energetic presser with a creative streak.
