“Columbian Cristiano Ronaldo” set to snub Liverpool for shock Old Trafford move
Liverpool’s bitter rivals Manchester United are now in pole position to snap Fc Porto forward Luis Diaz after the Reds have been linked him for months.
The winger, nicknamed the ‘Colombian Cristiano Ronaldo’, has drawn a lot of attention in recent months in Portugal.
The 24-year-old has been a constant threat to teams, displaying directness, precision, and an eye for goal.
Liverpool has been heavily linked with a move for the player, seeing him as the perfect successor to Sadio Mane on the left of the Reds team.
While Jurgen Klopp has lost the Senegalese and fellow striker Mohamed Salah on African Cup of Nations duty, however, he hasn’t thrown himself in search of a new signing to cover in January, despite the temptation to sign to Diaz now.
According to the Portuguese outlet, O Jogo Liverpool Premier league rivals are set to step in.
United are spoilt for option in attack with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani another quality option alongside Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial, and most recently Anthony Elanga are all available to Ralf Rangnck.
But with the Red Devils wanting to downsize their team, there could be significant departures in the summer.
Ronaldo has reportedly already told Old Trafford bosses that he would like to leave, should the club fail to qualify for the Champions League, with Cavani set to leave when his one-year deal expires in the summer.
Also, Bruno Fernandes has recently been touted for a departure and the Red Devils are reportedly desperate to see Martial off the salary bill.
Diaz could play anywhere and could be an integral part of the team’s next coach. At 24, he may have his best years ahead of him, while he is capable of instant impact.
