A 3-1 victory over Aston Villa marked Liverpool’s return to Premier League, but they had to work hard for their victory in an exciting game at Villa Park.

With just five minutes into the game, Mohamed Salah scored the opening goal for the Reds, aided by Andy Robertson who set a Premier League assist record among defenders. Just past the halfway point, Virgil van Dijk doubled the Reds’ lead.

However, that final score did not exactly reflect the game’s first half, and the hosts more than deserved the goal from Ollie Watkins that tied the score in the second half.

Unfortunately for Unai Emery, his team’s aggressive pursuit of an equaliser left them open to the counter, and that ignorance was punished when substitute Stefan Bajcetic put the game to bed late in the day.
