Watch What Manchester United star midfielder Christian Eriksen did after Denmark exited World Cup – surprise gesture
Many predicted Denmark to be a dark horse at the World Cup, but Christian Eriksen and company only earned one point from their three group games, and they were eliminated from the competition on Wednesday.
After Australia’s team eliminated Denmark from the World Cup in Qatar on Wednesday night, Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen thanked Australia coach Graham Arnold for his team’s victory.

Eriksen has been in excellent form for Manchester United this year, and he was one of the first names to be selected for Denmark’s 26-man World Cup squad. However, after losing 1-0 to Australia, Eriksen’s country was unable to advance past the group stage.
Denmark had a solid Euro 2020 campaign, however despite being the favorites to place second in Group D, they were forced to settle for last place after drawing with Tunisia and losing to France and Australia.
Eriksen started every group game and played the entire 90 minutes, but he was unable to motivate his country to advance.
The 30-year-old appeared dejected on the field following the final whistle against Australia, much like his colleagues who wanted to head back to the locker room, but that didn’t stop him from locating Australia’s manager Arnold to extend his congrats.
Eriksen, who led Denmark on Wednesday in Simon Kjaer’s absence, responded in a gentlemanly manner. Eriksen’s first major competition after his heart arrest was the World Cup, and he hopes to play for his nation at Euro 2024.
Eriksen will now have the opportunity for a break after playing for United for nearly 1,500 minutes this season.
