Mohamed Salah gets saucy offer to join Premier League rival as Liverpool delay contract renewal

Mohamed Salah is still yet to fully commit his future by signing a new contract with Liverpool, with the star forward having received a saucy transfer offer to sign for a Premier League rival.

The Egyptian has been offered the chance to sign for Tottenham Hotspur if he gets to reject a new Liverpool contract.

Spurs legend Teddy Sheringham says Mo Salah would be welcome in north London amid his contract saga on Merseyside.

The 29-year-old has insisted he is not asking for “crazy” fresh terms, but reports have indicated that Salah’s party is demanding a salary worth more than £300,000-a-week.

With nothing decided, Sheringham – who also played for Manchester United – has weighed on the debate, joking that Tottenham would be able to produce an unlikely swoop.

“Salah is the man. He keeps producing. I’m surprised it has taken them this long to come up with a package for him,” he told talkSPORT.

“He’s openly come out and said he wants to stay. You’d like to think Liverpool would want him to stay. Get it done or he can come down to Tottenham!”

“This is not a case of giving the player exactly what he wants, but Liverpool Football Club and the owners, I don’t think they would be forgiven if Salah left this club in the summer or 18 months.

“He’s a Liverpool legend, one of the greatest players the club has ever had, and it needs to be sorted sooner rather than later.”

Meanwhile, manager Jurgen Klopp has remained upbeat about the situation, although the Reds have struggled so far in Salah’s absence, with the Egyptian away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.

“We know, I know that Mo wants to say, we want Mo to stay,” Klopp stated on Wednesday.

“That’s where we are. These things take time, I cannot change it, sorry. I think It’s all in a good place and I’m very positive about it.”
