Liverpool transfers news: Klopp excited as Alexis Mac Allister cousin confirms move and Fabrizio Romano reveals ‘bargain’ Brighton fee
Alexis Mac Allister’s transfer to Liverpool is close to completion, but it appears the Reds will only pay a fraction of what they thought they were going to pay for the World Cup champion.
The midfield’s strengthening has been Jurgen Klopp’s top priority for the Reds this summer. Even a late Liverpool comeback failed to propel the team into the Champions League following an exceedingly disappointing 2022–23 season.
Instead, Liverpool will compete in the Europa League next season; this will be their first participation in the league since 2016.
It’s hardly surprising to see Klopp targeting at least three signings in the engine room given how the team has struggled there this year. And with the departures of Arthur Melo, James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liverpool now has the ideal chance to reinforce.
The German and Jorg Schmadtke, his new sporting director, seem eager to complete their transaction.
Recently, Klopp was full assurance that their lack of UCL football would not negatively impact their operations. And he is sure that the club will continue to be a compelling offer for new signings.

Now, it seems as though Brighton star Mac Allister will be their first summer signing.
He has had a fantastic season for the Seagulls, scoring 12 goals and providing three more assists. Mac Allister, who helped his native Argentina in winning the World Cup, will provide Liverpool’s midfield the much-needed new goal-spurt it now lacks.
Liverpool are now on the verge of a major transfer breakthrough after several negotiations. On Monday, his father and agent are expected to travel to Merseyside for negotiations. And the transfer’s confirmation might come before the end of this week.
Mac Allister’s cousin confirms Liverpool transfer
Now Mac Allister’s cousin, Luciano Guaycochea – a footballer himself with Malaysian side Perak – has confirmed the imminent move to Anfield.
“I cannot say where he’s going to play but everyone knows the Liverpool deal is close,” he stated. “It’s a big team. But anywhere he goes, I hope that he can play well.”

Meanwhile, Mac Allister has made it clear that his time at Brighton is coming to an end.
The player finally broke his silence on his future and shared his thoughts on Instagram.
He wrote: “It was an honour to represent Brighton & Hove Albion FC in a World Cup but to become the first-ever World Cup winner for this club it will be unforgettable (hopefully you will have more), as it will be your welcome after it.
“Three and a half ago, we were fighting for relegation. But today, after so much sacrifice, suffering, and work, this group will be in the history of this club for becoming the first time this club will play Europe League.
“We achieved it all together and that’s why we have to feel very proud. VAMOOOOOS.”
Fabrizio Romano reveals ‘bargain’ Brighton fee

According to reports, Mac Allister will sign a five-year deal at Anfield worth £150,000 a week. That will treble his current salary and tie the 24-year-old to the Merseysiders until summer 2028.
Initially valued at around the £60m mark, a clause in his Brighton deal has helped Liverpool facilitate his signing this summer.
Fabrizio Romano claims that the actual fee will be much lower than the total amount, so Liverpool is not paying the whole amount.
He claims that a deal is imminent for Liverpool but adds that it will cost “way less than this [£60m], so it’s a bargain, a very good deal for Liverpool.”
Indeed, according to certain sources, Mac Allister will cost around £55 million, which will excite Klopp. The main reason for this is that Liverpool will sign a player they believe to be a good bargain.
