Jude Bellingham insists money was never going to be his motivation when deciding his future.

The former Birmingham City starlet has joined Real Madrid in a transfer which could eventually rise to £115million, making him Britain’s most expensive footballer.

Jude Bellingham shunned interest from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City to seal a switch to the Bernabeu.

He cited Los Blancos’ history behind his decision. Real Madrid are 14-time Champions League winners and have won La Liga a record 35 times.

Bellingham is believed to have turned down more financially lucrative deals to join Real Madrid, where he will wear the number five shirt made iconic by Zinedine Zidane.

“Money is not a thing for me,” said Bellingham. “I don’t think about money at all when I make these kind of decisions, I never have and I never will. I play the game purely out of love.

“I love the feeling I got from the club and I couldn’t hide it. I told them more or less straight away what I felt and after I made my decision I wanted it to all happen quickly.

“It wasn’t a case of the other teams were bad, or they weren’t good, it’s just that for me, Madrid is the greatest.”

The 19-year-old also paid homage to boyhood club Blues at his Real Madrid unveiling today. Blues are set to receive a percentage of the profit Borussia Dortmund rake in for Bellingham after inserting a sell-on clause in the deal which took him to Germany in 2020.
