MANCHESTER UNITED are set join the race to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to reports.

New chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe is determined to buy a striker this summer to give Rasmus Hojlund competition for the No9 shirt.

Joshua Zirkzee appears to be the Red Devils’ first choice and the club have begun talks with the 23-year-old Dutchman.

And reports suggest Man Utd are willing to activate the Bologna star’s £34million release clause.

Should a move for Zirzkee not materialise, Calvert-Lewin is seen as an alternative.

Everton are looking to sell the 27-year-old to help balance the books. He currently earns £100,000 gross per week.

And The I report that Man Utd are ready to battle Newcastle and AC Milan for his signature.

The Toon are in talks over a deal but have been put off by Everton’s £40m valuation.

Calvert-Lewin scored eight goals in 38 games in all competitions last season.
