Liverpool can sign Mohamed Salah heir for $55m for ‘unstoppable’ forward in the summer
Liverpool has a whole host of issues to solve in the upcoming transfer window but the opportunity to future-proof in one key position this summer could prove shrewd.
There is no doubt that this summer is set to be a period of great change at Anfield with several first-team names to depart and reinforcements set to come in.
One emerging La Liga star could well prove an astute purchase and future-proof one key position years ahead of schedule.

Clearly, Jürgen Klopp and his recruitment staff have their work cut out ahead of the upcoming transfer window strengthening in midfield, the center of defense, and possibly in goal, with those positions expected to be high up on the agenda during what will be a pivotal summer.
Initially, concerns had abounded regarding whether the Reds would be able to solve their problem areas all in one window, given that the prospective signing of Jude Bellingham would have hoovered up a large chunk of their budget.
However, one positive to come out of Liverpool’s decision to pull out of the race for the Borussia Dortmund starlet is the fact that more funds will surely be available for the Anfield recruitment team to solve the variety of issues that have plagued Klopp’s squad this season.
In this vein, one area the Reds may well look to strengthen is on the right-hand side of attack, where Liverpool could do with improving their squad depth.
With this in mind, according to Spanish newspaper AS, Liverpool is set to rival Aston Villa for the signature of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams this summer, who has excelled for the Basque giants this term.
The 20-year-old has experienced something of a breakout season in La Liga this campaign but the San Mamés side may have issues hanging onto the highly-rated talent, who has a $55m (£44m/€50m) release clause in his contract, in the coming years.
With an impressive 14 goal involvements — eight strikes and six assists — this season, it is clear that Williams is a player on the rise and it will be interesting to see whether the eight-time Spain international would look to follow the example of his brother Iñaki by devoting his career to his boyhood club or whether he wants to test himself in the Premier League.
What is obvious is that the young winger has all the attributes to emerge as an elite-level performer in the coming years, with the starlet’s brother among those waxing lyrical about Williams’ potential, telling Mundo Deportivo earlier in the campaign: “In one-on-ones, he is practically unstoppable. He is a talent, a rough diamond that needs to be polished.”
