Real Madrid clinched their 35th La Liga title conquest in front of the home fans at the Santiago Bernabeu after a 4-0 win over Espanyol on Saturday.
Los Blancos needed only a point from the match, Madrid started several reserve players, but still managed the resounding victory.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are now 17 points ahead of Sevilla, who have four matches (12 points) to play, and 18 points in front of Barcelona, who have five matches (15 points) remaining.
Real winger, Rodrygo gave the host a comfortable lead with two first-half goals. He converged centrally from his left-wing position on both goals. On the first, he combined with compatriot Marcelo, and on the second he took advantage of a ball won by Mariano Diaz.
Marcos Asensio added a third in the second half, while two of the club’s biggest stars combined on the final strike. Vinicius Jr and Karim Benzema came off the bench as the Brazilian assisted Benzema for his 26th League goal of the season.
Next for Real Madrid is a crucial UEFA Champions League semifinal second leg clash against Manchester City and they rested several starters ahead of that match.
