Real Madrid new: Zinedine Zidane has reacted to Real Madrid 2-1 win over Real Sociedad in the La Liga.
Real Madrid defeated Real Sociedad 2-1 at Anoeta Stadium to go top of the La Liga table ahead of rival Barcelona on the head to head rule.
The Spanish giants took the lead in the 50th minute after Sergio Ramos stepped up and converted a penalty kick before a controversial Karim Benzema’s second goal.
Adnan Januzaj netted a goal for the host, but it was disallowed by the Referee due to obstruction of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois by a Sociedad player. Real Sociedad pulled one back through Mikel Merino, towards the end of the match.
Zinedine Zidane’s reaction while responding to questions after the game in a press conference told the media he doesn’t want to focus on the matter.
“I haven’t seen the incidents, but they’ve told me there was indeed a penalty on Vinícius and that the Benzema goal was legal. I don’t want to get involved in refereeing controversies. I like to talk about football, about the match.
“It annoys me when a refereeing issue becomes the focus and is the only thing that’s talked about because it makes it sound like we’ve not done anything on the pitch. We want to win on the pitch and we did that today. It was a deserved win.”
The French tactician also warned that this is not the end with 8 games left to be played.
“We haven’t won anything yet. It’s three wins and nine points, but we know it will be difficult until the end.
“We have to keep going, we’re in good form, the players are doing well physically and technically,” Zidane told the media after the game.
Real Madrid will next take on Real Mallorca on Wednesday, 24, 2020 as they look to hold on to the lead, with 8 games left to complete the 2019/20 Spanish La Liga season.
