Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has insisted that his side 1-1 draw at home with Real Sociedad on Monday was not a missed opportunity to get back into the title race.
Also Zidane called for calm before Sunday’s clash against League leaders Atlético de Madrid.
Los Blancos would have gone to the derby at the weekend with the possibility of leveling points with Atlético if they had defeated Diego Simeon’s team.
But in the end, Zidane’s men had to fight for a point, after Vinicius Jr’s late goal canceled out Portu’s earlier opening goal.
“We have to stay calm. We played well and created three or four clear chances but were up against a side that also created chances. Now we need to be patient, keep our cool, and rest,” the Frenchman told reporters.
“We deserved much more when you look at all the opportunities we created. We dominated the game, but then there have been games where we won but didn’t deserve to. That’s football.”
The draw saw Real Madrid’s five-match winning streak in all competitions ended.
