Arsenal to appeal Nketiah red card

Watford are considering a deal for Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah, who could be available for as little as £15 million with his deal entering the final year.

The Gunners star has made 17 Premier League appearances this term, although only four of those were starts, netting two goals.

The England Under-21 forward was more vital in the Europa League, featuring in eight matches and scoring three goals on the Gunners’ run to the semi-finals.

His contract at Arsenal expiress in 2022 and the Gunners want to cash in on him this summer rather than see him depart on a free transfer next year.

The youngster future appears to lie elsewhere, with regular starts in the senior team at Arsenal few and far between and not looking likely to increase in future.

Watford are keen on bringing Nketiah to Vicarage Road, report the Mirror, and the north Londoners could accept just £15 million for him.

The striker would surely expect more first-team opportunities at Watford than he enjoys at the Emirates, but even at £15 million, he’d be something of a gamble for the Hornets.

His six goals this season across all competitions is the best return of his professional career so far, so the youngster has never proved himself as a prolific goal-scorer.
