Oliver Giroud stoppage-time header goal ensured Chelsea booked their place in the last 16 spots of the champions leagues with two games rounds of matches left to play.
Chelsea had beaten the league 1 club comfortably with a 3-0 win in the first leg of the encounter but were made to work a tight rope to secure their six straight wins in all competitions.

Rennes battled to equalize before the half time break, Chelsea resilient defense was equal to the task.

Giroud came off the bench to give Frank Lampard side all three points and the much-needed win through a thumping header as the premier league club secured a place in the knock out stage of the champions league with Sevilla playing a part in that by defeating Krasnodar 2-1.
