Tuchel took charge from Frank Lampard in January and has seen Chelsea rise,  but could only watch on in frustration as his side  squandered a number of promising positions, especially in the first half.

Speaking after the match  he pointed out that players such as Werner and Hakim Ziyech, could not use a lack of big-game nous for their poor displays.

“In decision making, in the first half we were a bit too hectic, we went too straight upfront. We wanted to force the solution too fast. He said.

“We had some unnecessary ball losses and some imprecise decision making because we created some two against two and three against three situations, they were way more promising than what we made of it.

“We can do better even if we are experienced or not. But I could feel it was a bit too hectic. Not sure if it was something to do with our age. Hakim is not so young a player, Timo is also not so young. But we can improve there.”
