Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel has warned striker Tammy Abraham that he will not be chosen in his team just to increase his chances for England national team and admitted that he has a difficult task to force his way back to their side.

The Blues have suffered only one defeat in Tuchel’s impressive reign, but Abraham has largely found himself on the periphery under the former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain manager.

Abraham has not appeared for the Blues since February, with an ankle injury influencing his exile, and has only completed 90 minutes once under Tuchel.

His hopes of making his way into Gareth Southgate’s England squad are fading and he will need to have more minutes on the pitch to make it to the postponed Euro 2020.

Tuchel is unmoved by suggestions that Abraham, who has been linked with a summer move, could miss out on the team and described the challenge the forward faces in forcing his plans.

“No, I cannot do my decision on the personal goals for the players,’ said Tuchel

‘Kepa also has goals to play for Spain. This is good they have these goals but this can never influence my decisions.

“I’m the coach for Chelsea, I have to do what’s good for us and what I believe is best for us.

“Tammy had a bit of a rough time because he started twice or three times and was twice substituted for tactical reasons at half-time.

“He could not have the impact he demands from him and that we wish from him that he can clearly give from him.

“Then he was injured and lost a bit the connection and the possibility to fight for his place in the squad. The squad played very well without him, we had a lot of results without him.

“Now we enter in the decisive part of the season where it’s not so easy to bring players who are injured into the shape or to let them play.

“We have only three changes which is a big, big thing and is a big handicap because three changes means most of the time you only have two changes because the last one is one you don’t want to lose too early.

“So circumstances are not easy but like I always say, it’s on Tammy to do everything that is not possible to let him out.

“We have a full squad now, we have 22 players on the training pitch. It’s very, very hard to select 18 players for Premier League matches.

“But in the offensive position, it’s always possible to have a huge impact in only some minutes. This is very different for example to the situation of Kepa.

“And nothing has changed. We demand a lot of Tammy, he demands a lot of himself”
