Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Christian Pulisic missed Chelsea’s victory over Sheffield United due to “family problems”.
Goals from Mason Mount and Jorginho sealed a 2-1 victory for Chelsea, who move up to fifth place in the Premier League after the win.
Pulisic has yet to start a game since Tuchel replaced Lampard as the blues coach last month.
And the United States international was left out of the squad for Chelsea’s trip to Sheffield United on Sunday.
When asked about Pulisic’s absence from the team, Tuchel replied: “Christian has some family problems to solve. Family always comes first.
“So we decided to give this game a break.”
Tuchel also revealed that Thiago Silva is aiming to return from his thigh injury for Chelsea’s clash against Southampton on February 20.
“We fight for Thiago every day. For sure he will be out of the FA Cup, so it will take us a while, several days, “said the Chelsea manager.
“We set the goal, maybe Southampton is realistic, but it is very ambitious
“But we are doing everything and I know that Thiago will do everything possible to be ready as soon as possible.
“But you can’t risk a muscle injury, so when it heals, it heals and you can’t accept the pain or something with any other injury.”
