Silva, 36, stretched his right leg over while reaching for clearance and immediately signaled the bench for treatment.

The central defender could not continue and hobbled off to be replaced by Andreas Christensen shortly after the half-hour.

The Brazilian international had little influence on the game when as they registered a big away win against their London rival thanks to Jorginho’s first-half penalty.

However, Tuchel, who previously worked with the defender at Paris Saint-Germain, announced he limped off with a muscle injury and has doubts about Sunday’s game against the Blades at Bramall Lane.

“I saw Thiago with a big strap around his muscle but we have to wait,” Tuchel told BBC Sport.

“It’s worrisome because it’s a muscle injury.”

“It will be tight for Sunday, but we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to confirm it,” added the German boss in his post-game press conference. “He’s a big doubt for Sunday.”

The win was Tuchel’s second as the new Chelsea boss since Frank Lampard’s departure in late January. The result brought his team to sixth place in the table.
