Chelsea have prevented Manchester City from winning their first-ever champions league trophy after the blues defeated Pep Guardiola team 1-0.

Thomas Tuchel  deserves an immeasurable amount of praise after being appointed Chelsea boss following the sacking of Frank Lampard being sacked halfway through the 2020-21 Premier League campaign.

It was a night to remember for both Tuchel and veteran center-back Thiago Silva The pair failed at the last hurdle last season when Paris Saint-Germain lost to Bayern Munich before Silva found his way to Stamford Bridge.

Neither of them knew that a meeting was on the horizon and that they would meet in a different shade of blue, but this time, they made it count when it mattered most.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted shortly after the final whistle in Porto that the pair are ready to be together for at least another season.

It is suggested that Silva will have his one-year extension activated by the club, while Chelsea will seek to begin discussions with Tuchel on a long-term contract based on his achievements in the last half of the season.
