Solskjaer speaks on Shola Shoretire debut in Manchester United win against Newcastle United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has expressed confidence that Shola Shoretire will continue to have a long career at the club, after handing the teenager his debut.

The 17-year-old had a brief cameo from the bench in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Newcastle.

The teenager replaced Marcus Rashford in the 89th minute of the game with the victory already assured.

Solskjaer has now said that Shoretire, who was also part of the team that faced Real Sociedad in the Europa League, has performed well in training and earned the opportunity to record his first Premier League appearance for United.

When asked if it was good to see Shoretire make his debut and get some minutes under his belt, Solskjaer told MUTV: β€œYeah of course. And he’s going to keep playing many games for us if he keeps doing what he’s doing.

β€œHe’s training really well, good boy with a good head on him. Hopefully he will have a good career with us.”

Shoretire rejected Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, ​​Bayern Munich, and Juventus, to commit to the Red Devils.

He is widely regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders of his day.
