Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has denied having anything to do with the Sack of Frank Lampard last week.
Lampard was fired after a five-game Premier League losing streak in eight games.
Since then he has been replaced by Thomas Tuchel.
Rudiger has made just six Premier League appearances this season, with Lampard mostly relegating the German defender to a spot on the bench.
Rumors claim that Rudiger caused a backstage rift at Stamford Bridge.
But speaking to Athletic, he said: “There have been so many nonsensical rumors about me since last week. I have never spoken to the board about the coach’s situation or about any other issue.
“Frank Lampard was confident in my abilities after Christmas in a very difficult situation and he was grateful for this. It was also the main reason I told my representatives not to look for a possible winter move anymore.
“Unfortunately, it was not destined for our team to change things for the coach. We always wanted the best for the coach and for the club ”.
Thomas Tuchel team will look to record their second victory since he joined the Blues , when they take on wounded Tottenham side on Thursday.
