Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has advised Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford to “learn” from United new signing Edison Cavani.
The Uruguayan International showed a glimpse of his striking prowess, as he scored twice in the reds 3-2 comeback against Southampton.
Cavani came off the bench to turn the game around after Southampton side had taken a 2-0 shocking lead.
The 32-year-old joined Manchester United on the last minute of the summer transfer window, which was seen by many as a desperate measure seeing his age and having not played active football for over seven months.
United legend Ferdinand has, however, urged the other strikers in the club to learn from Uruguayan star.
“The amount that Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial will learn off this guy and his movement alone is unbelievable,’ Ferdinand told the FIVE YouTube channel.
“It’s worth having him just for that to improve these boys but they’ve got to be willing to learn. They’ve got to want to learn.
“They’ve got to look at Edinson Cavani and say: ‘I want that in my game. How am I going to do that? Analysis man at the club can you give me some videos of Cavani’s movement?’
“That’s the type of stuff you’ve got to do to improve. Self-analyse, self-reflect. Look at yourself. Who can I learn from? He is the man.
“Over 200 goals at PSG listen, he knows what to do. I’d be tapping into that massively.”
