Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand cited Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford for criticism after the Reds suffered a shocking loss to Sheffield United on Wednesday.

The loss means United missed an opportunity to overtake their neighbors Manchester City on the premier league table as Sheffield secured only their second win in the entire 2020/21 campaign so far.

Goals from Kean Bryan and Oliver Burke gave the visitor the surprising victory canceling out Harry Maguire equaliser.

Ferdinand has expressed his dissatisfaction with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side especially in the attack

“They didn’t have that zipper. From the very first minute, there really wasn’t the cut and thrust that we saw from United,” Ferdinand told BT Sport after the final whistle.

“Credit Sheffield United, Chris Wilder set them up very well, but United didn’t ask the questions. Bruno Fernandes, on whom they have relied so heavily over the past few weeks and months, didn’t get it going today. Paul Pogba the equal.

“If anyone started getting carried away with the position they are in at Old Trafford it has been a reality check. I think Man Utd have been brilliant lately in terms of response but tonight it seemed to collapse.
