Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has stated that it was a difficult task replacing N’Golo Kante at the Leicester City.

Kante was pivotal in Leicester City, having helped the foxes lift the 2015/16 premier league title for the first time ever before his eparture to Chelsea.

Wilfred Ndidi was identified as a potential replacement by the then reigning premier league champions.

Having joined Leicester City from Belgian club Genk for a fee of €17.60million euros in 2017 January transfer window.

The 23-year-old has not only filled the void left by the French International, but has also gone ahead to make a mark for himself.

“The pressure I had was that they just won the league. Kante left and they were looking for a replacement. Seeing this whole situation, it was very scary for me,” Ndidi said to Out of Home Podcast via Daily Star.

“I was comfortable at Genk but it was like an opportunity for me to actually develop in my career.

“It was the right time for me to go because Genk wanted me to progress in my career. It was difficult at that time because I had to leave for another country and start afresh.

“Even during training, everyone wanted to see what I can do because the person who just left actually made a mark. So, the pressure was just there.”

The Nigerian International is currently admired by Europe top elite clubs including Real Madrid who are said to be interested in his services.
